An example

Write Hi! I have a question about {title} in the message cell. On a page called Lunch menu, the visitor’s WhatsApp opens with Hi! I have a question about Lunch menu already typed. Change the title in the box below, and watch the link change:

Build the link and see what the plugin saves

Pick a channel, paste a number, a name or an address, and see exactly what Beckonbird would save and which link it would draw. Nothing you type leaves this page.

What counts as the title

On a single page or post it is that page’s own title. On the blog page or an archive there is no single page, so the plugin uses the title WordPress shows in the browser tab. On a search page it uses your site’s name, because the title there is made of what the visitor typed, and that must never end up as a message to you. A shortcode written in a post that is listed on the blog page uses that post’s own title. Anything that is HTML in a title, such as &, is turned back into the plain character first, so a title like Bord & stol arrives as written.

Why it works with page caching

The words are filled in on the server when the page is built, and each page has its own copy. A caching plugin that stores a copy of every page stores each one with its own title in the link. Nothing depends on who the visitor is. The caching guide goes through it.

Where else it works

The same three words work in an email subject, and in the shortcode, where the message is written in the shortcode itself. They do not work in the greeting at the top of the menu or in the words beside the button.
