What is copied
The WhatsApp number that Joinchat has saved, cleaned the same way as any number you type, and the message Joinchat sends with it. If the number cannot be turned into a working link, nothing is offered. The number goes in the WhatsApp row, first in the menu, set to all devices, and the message is cut to Beckonbird’s limit of 500 characters.
What is not copied
Joinchat’s own settings: its look, its bubble and its other features. Beckonbird draws a different button, with a different set of options, so you set colour, size and side again on the Appearance tab. The number and the message are the part worth not retyping.
Steps
- Install and activate Beckonbird Chat Button while Joinchat is still active.
- Open Beckonbird → Settings → Buttons and press Copy the number and message.
- Check the row, change the message if you like, and save.
- Deactivate Joinchat, and look at a page in a private window to see that only one button is there.
Before you delete the old one
Keep Joinchat installed but deactivated for a few days. If something in your setup relied on it, you can put it back. Placeholders written in the old style, such as {HREF}, are turned into the plugin’s {url}, and {TITLE} and {SITE} work as they are, in any capitals. Joinchat’s placeholders for a shop or a product have no counterpart here and are left out; the note above the copy button says so.
