The four attributes
channel: one ofwhatsapp, phone, sms, telegram, viber, messenger, emailorlink. The start iswhatsapp.text: the words on the link. Without it, the channel’s name is used.value: a number, a name or an address. Without it, the value saved for that channel on the Buttons tab is used.message: the message, or for email the subject, with{title},{url}and{site}. Without it, the saved one is used.
An example: [beckonbird channel="whatsapp" text="Book a table" value="+45 12 34 56 78" message="Hi! I would like to book a table"]. Try a value and see what comes out:
Build the link and see what the plugin saves
Pick a channel, paste a number, a name or an address, and see exactly what Beckonbird would save and which link it would draw. Nothing you type leaves this page.
How it looks
The shortcode draws an ordinary link with the class beckonbird-link, and the plugin does not style it, so it takes the look of the links in your theme. If you want a button, give that class a style in your theme or in the additional CSS.
When something is wrong
An unknown channel, a value that cannot be a number for that channel, or no value at all draws nothing for visitors. For anyone who can edit posts, a short message in the page says what is wrong, so you see it in the preview and visitors never do.
