What you can paste
The Page’s short name, m.me/name, facebook.com/name, messenger.com/t/name, a profile.php?id= link with the number in it, or an address that ends in a number for a Page without a name of its own: facebook.com/pages/Name/123456789, facebook.com/people/Name/123456789 or facebook.com/messages/t/123456789. Any Facebook subdomain works (www, m, web, mbasic, a language such as da-dk). The name is 5 to 50 letters, digits, dots, underscores and dashes.
Build the link and see what the plugin saves
Pick a channel, paste a number, a name or an address, and see exactly what Beckonbird would save and which link it would draw. Nothing you type leaves this page.
What is refused
Addresses on Facebook that are not a Page: groups, events, share links, photos, the login page. Turned into a name, they would make a button that goes to a place you did not mean, so the plugin refuses them, keeps your old value and explains on the Settings page.
Before you add it
The button opens a conversation with the Page, so the Page needs to be one that can receive messages. Open your m.me link in a private window once and make sure it reaches you, before you put it on your site.
Opens in a new tab
A Messenger link is a web address, so it opens in a new tab with the usual protection for links that leave your site. The other links the plugin makes, such as a call or a text, hand over to an app in the same tab. Several channels in one menu is the usual way to offer Messenger without leaving out the people who do not use it.
