What is accepted

A username of 5 to 32 letters, digits and underscores, starting with a letter. The t.me, telegram.me and telegram.dog forms with or without https://. And an invitation link to a group or channel, either t.me/+code or the older t.me/joinchat/code. Try yours:

Pick a channel, paste a number, a name or an address, and see exactly what Beckonbird would save and which link it would draw. Nothing you type leaves this page.

What is refused

Telegram has links that are not a person or a channel: sticker packs, share links, proxy settings, login. If one of those was pasted by mistake, reading it as a name would make a button that leads somewhere you did not mean, so the plugin refuses it and keeps the old value. The Settings page says why.

No prefilled message

Telegram’s web links have no way to carry a ready-made message in the form the plugin uses, so the message column is for WhatsApp and Email only. The Telegram line simply opens the conversation.

Telegram next to other channels

A Telegram line is a good fit for an audience that already uses it, and a poor only choice for everyone else. Put it in the menu beside WhatsApp and Email, as in a button with several channels, and let people pick.
